Tucked away in the cosy back room of Hotel Kung Carl, live music and a vibrant atmosphere await several days a week – and on Saturdays, jazz takes centre stage.
The Jazz Club spans two floors surrounding the intimate stage, where you can settle in for dinner and enjoy the music up close.
Here, well-known names meet exciting new talent, and over the years, the stage has welcomed an impressive range of musicians. Even jazz legend Herbie Hancock has visited Kung Carls Jazz Club.

Freeport Soul Collective

Freeport Soul Collective is a Stockholm-based band rooted in the soul and funk sounds of the 1960s and 1970s. Formed in 2015, the band took its name from its first rehearsal space in Frihamnen (Freeport) in Stockholm.
Their repertoire features a vibrant selection of soulful and funky songs by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Amy Winehouse, and Chaka Khan.

Amanda Sedgwick

Amanda Sedgwick has been active as a bandleader, composer, freelance musician, and soloist in Sweden and the United States for the past twenty-five years.
She has released five albums under her own name, with her original compositions at the heart of each recording: Volt, Reunion, Delightness, Shadow And Act, and, most recently, In My Mother’s Garden (TengTones), released in April this year.
Amanda is currently based in Stockholm but regularly spends time in New York, where she performs at the renowned jazz club Smalls. Most recently, she appeared there in February for the release of Dwayne Clemons’ Shadow And Act (Smalls Live).
BJÖRN ARKÖ FUSION ALL STARS

A quartet rooted in the golden age of fusion and the electric universe of Miles Davis.
Saxophonist and wind synth player Björn Arkö tours internationally with legendary drummer Billy Cobham, leads the fusion group SLAK, and has collaborated with artists including Dirty Loops, Gary Husband, and Seiko Matsuda.
On keyboards is Grammy Award-winning pianist, composer, and producer Marcos Ubeda, a longtime member of Billy Cobham’s band and keyboardist with Swedish fusion institution Hawk on Flight.
Jonathan Lundberg is a drummer and composer known for his progressive and uncompromising musical approach through his work with the Jonathan Lundberg Band and Linder Bros. On bass is the remarkable Samuel Löfdahl, a graduate of the Royal College of Music in Stockholm who has performed with several prominent names on the Swedish jazz scene.
As the centenary of Miles Davis’ birth is celebrated in 2026, the 2 of 5 Quartet draws inspiration from his electric, genre-defying legacy. With powerful melodies, heavy grooves, and plenty of room for improvisation, the group carries the fusion tradition forward with a modern and explosive sound.
Andreas Tilliander & Goran Kajfeš

Two of Sweden’s most distinctive and influential musicians meet at the crossroads of electronic music, ambient, and jazz. On In Cmin, Andreas Tilliander and Goran Kajfeš create a dreamy and evocative soundscape where slow electronic pulses, delicate synth tones, and analogue textures blend with Kajfeš’ trumpet and flute.
Their collaboration has its roots twenty years ago, when Tilliander and Kajfeš first discussed making music together at the Swedish Grammy Awards afterparty in 2005. With In Cmin, that idea has finally come to fruition – in music that moves seamlessly between the precise and the improvised, the earthly and the cosmic.
Aurora Brännström Trio

Personal and stripped-back jazz with a sparkling surface and searching depth.
Since forming in 2012, the Aurora Brännström Trio has been captivating audiences with its unmistakable and irresistible take on jazz. At its core are intimate and personal interpretations of classic jazz standards, combined with unexpected reworkings of songs from entirely different genres.
The trio is fronted by the incomparable singer Aurora Brännström, whose pitch-perfect and expressive voice is backed by virtuoso pianist Ludvig Lundgren and the solid bass playing of Mårten Korkman.
The music is accessible yet sophisticated – sparkling on the surface, but honest and searching underneath. In its praise of the album Clermont Avenue (2021), Swedish jazz magazine Orkesterjournalen highlighted the trio’s ability to breathe new life into familiar musical territory while avoiding the temptation of mere superficial charm.
Since then, the trio has released several more albums, most recently Green Line (2025), marking a new high point in the band’s development. This year, the trio has devoted special attention to celebrating one of its inspirations – the iconic Marilyn Monroe – whose timeless songs frequently find their way into the trio’s repertoire.
